REPORTING TO MANAGEMENT
In the Reporting to Management assignment, students take on the role of Production Accountant for Gemstar Productions, where they are tasked with creating a Keynote or PowerPoint presentation with a voiceover. The presentation requires an in-depth analysis of the company’s financial performance using key financial statements such as the Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Statement, and Statement of Cash Flows.
The assignment also required the calculation of financial ratios, such as Debt to Assets and Return on Equity, and recommend internal controls to improve the company’s financial health and operational efficiency.
Through this assignment, I gained essential skills in financial statement analysis, enabling me to confidently interpret and present complex financial data. I developed proficiency in calculating financial ratios and analyzing budget variances, which has enhanced my ability to evaluate a company's financial health. Moreover, I refined my communication skills by crafting a clear and concise presentation, delivering actionable financial insights and recommendations to management. This experience has been invaluable in strengthening my overall understanding of financial oversight and reporting.
